Last week was International Nurses Day (IND) – an important day for nurses to connect with their colleagues and for the community to demonstrate their appreciation for nurses everywhere.
International Nurses Day is an opportunity to celebrate and honour the incredible contributions that nurses make to society. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the challenges that nurses face and to recommit supporting them in their work. In 2023, let us take a moment to thank nurses for their hard work and dedication, and to recognise the vital role that they play in shaping the future of healthcare.
This year’s theme for International Nurses Day is ‘A Voice to Lead – Our Nurses. Our Future,’ which highlights the importance of nurses’ voices in shaping the future of healthcare. Set by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), this year’s theme addresses global health challenges and the crucial role nurses play to improve global health for all.
More importantly, the IND campaign will shine a light on nurses everywhere, moving nurses from invisible to invaluable in the eyes of policy makers and the public.
Nurses, Personal Care Assistants, Enrolled Nurses, Lifestyle team members and support staff all joined in on the celebrations at both our Embracia Moonee Valley and Embracia Reservoir home.

Moonee Valley Lunch
The Embracia Moonee Valley home came together to celebrate with pizza (of course!). The amazing kitchen staff were kind enough to provide extra snacks for everyone too. Nurses spent time sharing their thoughts on nursing, and why they loved working as a Registered Nurse at Embracia Moonee Valley. It was lovely to see our nurses celebrate their achievements and for everyone to spend time together.

Reservoir Afternoon Tea
Nurses, PCAs and staff at the Embracia Reservoir home came together to celebrate with afternoon tea. Staff brought a dish from their culture and management provided some pizza which was the star of the show! We want to say thanks to all of the amazing nurses who work with us, we couldn’t do it without you!
